Most grantmakers are familiar with the UN Climate Conference, established at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio De Janeiro. Whatever their specific funding priorities and strategies are, everyone understands the importance of global alignment to combat climate change. The UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) isn’t as well-known but was initiated at the same time, bringing civil society, business, and governments together to set conservation targets and legally binding agreements to protect biodiversity.

In this webinar, three experts on global biodiversity policy explained why all environment and conservation funders should know about the Convention on Biological Diversity and share examples of how foundations are engaging in the effort to set new conservation action plans for the coming decade. The presentation available in the member area is from that webinar.
