Benefits of Membership

We provide opportunities for learning and collaboration that strengthens grantees’ environmental, climate, and biodiversity protection efforts.

Funders who participate in specific Biodiversity Funders Group programs and place-based programs expand the impact of their portfolios, with access to:

  • Annual program meetings
  • Regional meetings
  • Field trips and other learning opportunities
  • Subgroups and learning circles focused on specific issues
  • Webinars and virtual meetings
  • Targeted grantmaking analyses
  • Monthly electronic newsletters and special announcements

In addition to all these activities, dues-paying members of the Biodiversity Funders Group are invited to members-only events, such as:

  • The Annual Members Meeting
  • The Learning in the Field program, which recently took funders to Alaska, Texas, and the Great Plains
  • Small group cohorts on topics such as climate-resilient forests and equity in conservation grantmaking
  • The Tribal Conservation Learning Circle
  • Select webinars and other activities

Biodiversity Funders Group members elect the board of directors and often play leadership roles, such as program co-chairs or planning committee members.

My favorite place in all of philanthropy to learn. BFG is a welcoming and engaging environment, full of colleagues with deep expertise and a willingness to share their time and knowledge. I am grateful for everything BFG does to bring together the community.
